So I'm currently fitting an AU VCT engine into my EL, while I was swapping the gear over I found out that the dizzy won't fit, due to the vct oil feed line. I've removed the line and plugged up the VCT unit, but now I'm not sure whats going to happen.

Does the engine NEED the oil supply at all times? Or is it only there to make the vct switch over? I need to know if I can just run it as is or have to source a standard au cam and sprocket.

when I first put vct engine in my ed I bent the oil line to clear the dizzy..

but if you remove the oil line you obviously need to block where it goes on the head,
but you also now leave the solinoid disconnected.. this now puts the cam in its default position, which is for high rpm performance..

if you want you can remove the vct sprocket and cam and fit a non vct cam

Thanks troyman.

I actually just finished speaking to someone and they said it would be a good idea to take the line to a hydraulics place, and they can cut the line and fit some flexible high pressure stainless line in its place. Time is of the essence so that's a better idea than trying to find and fit a standard au cam setup.

That'd cost a fortune to do that and if they get the crimp wrong it'll leak... Much easier just to remove the line and bend it a little to give clearance... See my build thread when I fitted the AU VCT head to my ED block... I formed it to give clearance... Worked fine...

Cheers,
Tim
