Hi
Have a ef fairmont and about every 3 4 weeks the coolant in header tank drops a little and sometimes goes to minimum and have to put about 1l in following might help 1. New radiator and new water pump 2. Header tank has a couple pin head size bulges in top but doesn't looked cracked 3. Where the big hose goes to bottom of tank there's 2 hose clamps and between them there's a very small bit of white powder not a lot 4 did plugs not long ago and they're all like normal there's none that are cleaner than others plus there's no stains below exhaust manifold plus there's no milky oil and still starts very easy sometimes may run alittle rough first thing in morning before switching to gas probably because petrol needs a good run or new injectors or both but might only do tht bit once in while or something Any answer would be appreciated Thanks |

Before starting the car in the morning, take off the oil cap, and look in the cap...if it has a slight whitish look to it, it may be leaking coolant into the oil.....very slowly.

Any other possibilities driven probably 70kms after topping up and no coolant loss

Have you noticed when you loose the coolant?
Mine did much the same thing, would loose about a cup of coolant a week. I noticed sometime after parking the car a small coolant puddle could be seen. I guess when stopped the engine would rise in temp and pressure the system more. Found it was the header tank. Had to completely remove the tank to see a couple of tiny cracks where the large hose exits. That was a few years ago now, new tank fixed the problem. |

theres no white in oil cap and oils clean and when plugs were done they were normal one wasnt cleaner than others plus no white stains below head on either side so head gasket should be ok?? starts easy enough and runs well and only has moisture when its cold in mornings

A couple of years ago, my ED was losing coolant at a very, very slow rate.
It took me a little while to find it....the by-pass pipe was leaking, so I replaced it....I was lucky that I had a new genuine one, I bought it about 10 or so years ago. While I was at it, I decided to replace the heater tap too....just as well....it wasn't leaking either.
