I have a Tickford head which I believe comes out an EB2.
The camshaft is a Wade 977b and I fitted the head with new Crow double springs and new stem seals. I first installed it with a single set of shims instead of 2 as everyone recommends since the pre-load seemed ok. A few lifters got damaged with the engine only running a few hours all up. As per the photos below, the rocker arm doesn't line up exactly with the valve stem. Both EB and ED rocker assembly give the same result, whereas AU rockers line up perfectly. Is this normal? Could that lead to smashed up lifters? E series rocker arm: AU rocker arm: Head part number: Photo I took when I found one of the lifters falling appart while unbolting the rocker assembly: |

AU rockers are a different ratio to E series rockers.... 1.8:1 verses 2.0:1.
This will effect the total lift....makes it less, therefore, wasting the cams lift, and overall performance of the cam. The rockers will be slightly misaligned, so the effect of rotating the valve, can happen while going through it's usual movement.

My concern is that with E-series rockers, the lifters are misaligned by a couple of mm. |
