Hi,
I have a 69 351 Windsor that me and my young sons club race at symmons plains in an XF Falcon. I pulled it down for a freshen up and have since went a bit further than originaly planned. It is stock crank and block with ARP main studs and Girdle , Balanced , steel flywheel , Keith Black high top pistons , AFR 195cc cnc alloy Renegade competition heads , Victor Junior intake , Plasma molly competition rings. Graphite race bearings, competition cam bearings. I am just wondering if anyone has some expertise to add to this build. I have not got cam yet but will use solid flat tappet and was leaving this till last. Also wondering about oil pump standard or high volume what about a rev kit. I want to rev it around 7000 maybe higher. Are there any other bits and pieces or advice I should be thinking about. I would like to think I could make 500hp or close to it. Also what size carby would my 750 HP DP holley do the job or should I go bigger.

There is no replacement for displacement. If class rules allow, I would stroke it. The 351W is a prime candidtate with a tall 9.5" deck. A 408 would be a good option that will make the 500HP goal much easier to acheive across a wider rpm range. The extra 50 cubes would give 50ft-lbs throughout the rev range = much better acceleration out of corners. Just remember that the 69 block has a 20 thou lower deck height than most other 351W blocks, so make sure the pistons allow for this
Bearing clearance determines oil pump requirements. Your machinist will guide you on this.

What dizzy and ignition system are you using ??? A roller cam would be way better....if rules allow. Roller Rockers ??? Engine oil cooler ??? What headers ???

MSD Ignition coil dizzy and 6AL, 10.5:1 maybe a little higher with new heads , stock rods shot peened & polished. Headers are custom made very nice job to suit the competition alloy AFR Heads. twin 3 inch system, hot dogs and dumped at diff with a balance tube. built by myself. will be running oil cooler, already have a high volume sump with gates, will use accumulator later on when budget allows. have been thinking about the roller but don't know much about them and haven't priced to see how much more expense is involved. large alloy radiator with EL thermos adapted to suit , works very nice. All ARP bolts and studs. Steel balancer. Just standard alternator and power steering pump.
