Is it possible to fit AU door lock actuators or anything similar to an EL as I think the passenger front door is on the way out, as well as the fact that I am sick and tired of hearing...
WWWWRRRRAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR every time I want to open the car!!!!! A nice "thunk" would be preferred Cheers Last edited by TheELghia on Fri Mar 29, 2013 4:57 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

I won't answer your question, but my weekend car is the AU, the track car is an EF.
the actuator noise difference between th 2 cars is chalk and cheese. I had actually forgotten about how BAD the E series actuators were. AU actually sounds like it locks solidly. EF sounds like it begrudgingly does it.

completely different, the ea/el actuator is a seperate box with a rod going to the latch, the au actuator is in the latch mechenisim itself same as ba/bf..

So what you're saying is there is no 'direct' way to fit AU onwards actuator to an EL. Is there any alternative actuator out there that can fit an EL or am I stuck with that embarrassing sound. |

Ah k, might take that into consideration.
Well, I have actually had a few comments about my door actuators. One guy actually had a bit of a chuckle when I unlocked the car. So, I feel that its kind of embarrassing. I guess I should have said something like irritating or unflattering. Makes it sound like the car is dying before you even get into it... |

The actuators are a bit harsh though out of the packet - can be fixed though.

Probably the wrong key for the door. You can lock any car with any key.

I literally laughed out loud from the first comment and I agree, the actuator noise in the E series is enough to send you insane. Especially when the locks feel like having a party and lock then unlock on its own.

Yep so my XH drivers door mechanism is dying quickly.
I was hoping to install quicker and quieter aftermarket central locking system. Does anyone have any recommendations, or even a guide? I haven't done this before, but I have pull the doors apart etc before. Thanks guys. J |
