Hi everyone,
I need some help. I was under my Au xr8 the other day and noticed that there is a bolt missing! It must not have been put back when the clutch was done. It is the bolt on the drivers side at the bottom onof the bell housing. It connects the bell housing to a long aalloy bracket that mounts up on the side of the engine block. The bolt would be approxim 80mm long. I tried a 10mm but it wants to cross thread. Can anyone confirm?? |

If 10mm is close then you don't have a lot of options...
10mm a*** (1.5 pitch) 10mm fine (1.25 pitch) 3/8UNC 3/8UNF Not sure if the Windsors were an imperial based engine or not... If not then disregard the 3/8 sizes and try the other 10mm pitch... If there on the other side of the motor you can take to someone to get the pitch read? Cheers, Tim

Windsors are Imperial Based - but the transmission is Metric (ha!).
Gearbox to Engine bolts are all imperial. Im not 100% sure but fairly sure that that bottom bolt is 3/8 Nigel |

Thanks guys. I will go and buy a 3/8th bolt and give it a go. I will report back so anyone in the future who has this annoying problem will have a record!

Fair chance you'll be looking for a 3/8 UNC then... Can't really imagine them using a UNF...

Since it bolts into the aussie made support bracket, my money is on it being a standard pitch metric thread. Most likely M10.

Confirmed as M10 standard pitch.
A 3/8 UNC is initially a loose fit in the treads but only screws in about 6mm before binding

strange. Mine was definately 3/8. M10 would not thread. Maybe it has been re -tapped. It has had a clutch change at some stage.

I measured about a dozen I had in my scrap bin
91DA all seem to be M10x1.5mm 94DA are not M10x1.5mm
