I'm wanting to put a reco auto gearbox in my ED XR6. My mechanic doesn't think there were any differences made to the box by Tickford, but I'm sure I read years ago that they in fact did.

Any info on this would be appreciated, as I wish to keep the car original, and not dilute any possible Tickford mods. I've owned it for 18 years and it's precious to me. Despite an exhaustive internet search, I've not found anything useful. Just one forum post saying XR6 boxes were recalibrated.

I will not understand anything technical, I just want to know if putting in any old GLi trany (for example) is a mistake.

No difference between any of the ED BTR's between GLi, Futura, XR6, Fairmont and Ghia. Even the Fairlane and LTD were the same.

Pump difference between the EB/ED BTR and EF/EL.

Again same for the EF/EL BTR, same across the range.
