Item: 2006 Ford Fairmont BF
Price: $2550 ono Description: * To be sold with no rego or RWC (currently registered until April 2016 & driven daily). Please no offers for swaps, I've had a few calls regarding swaps for random cars... * 2nd owner since March 2010. * Has no finance owing, encumberance, no crash history. * JTG Liquid Injection gas system installed April 2010, has saved upwards of $16,000 on fuel costs, still runs perfectly. Dual fuel & runs fine on petrol also. * Engine, auto, diff all in good condition. * Has factory 1600kg tow pack. * Dual Zone, Fairmont ICC & Premium sound, elec windows, cruise, etc all work. * Interior very good condition, exterior average (ding in bumper, stone chips, RHR door minor panel damage). * Selling due to upgrade. * Fairmont interior ideal upgrade for BA-BF2 XT ā Futura ā XR owner. * JTG system ideal for cheap reliable running costs, far superior to E-Gas with zero backfires & equal power to petrol, 10% economy difference vs petrol. Constant 11-13Lā100kms on gas. * Suspension noisey due to swaybar rubbers, brakes due for new pads within 5000kms, tailshaft centre bearing requires replacing. Location: * Can deliver as far as Melbourne or East Gippsland, I'm based near Sale & I work in the Latrobe Valley. * Please PM me for contact details. Damn! This would make an awesome daily. If I didn't have too many cars...
I reckon it'll be sold by this time next week Dave! Do you have any pics of the tank in the boot? Presumably it's a full size tank? Absolute barge'n with the injected gas setup - just sayin' Good luck with the sale. |

G'day Steve, long time no chat!
Here's some older pics of both the tank in the boot & how the gas install looks in the engine bay. Boot looks the same as below, but the engine bay's a bit dirtier now! Tank is ~51L but takes ~47L due to requiring a minimum amount of liquid LPG in-tank to keep its pump primed. I've gotten >400kms/tank (best effort 10.5L/100kms), but average around 370L to 42-45L these days, mixed driving. I've had hundreds of views each on gumtree, carhubsales, AFF, etc, and several offers for swaps (before modifying the ads), but no serious bites. For those who live in Gippsland I tend to park it next to the hwy at Longford on weekends. Maybe one of the gas plant workers will spot it & buy it as their daily Cheers -Dave- |

Thank God for that!
Someone buy it already - I was doing the maths on how much this thing would save me as a daily |

Here's some maths based on current prices in Melbourne (taken off RACV website):
Gas - 53c/L <-- Car averages 12L/100kms ULP - 148c/L <-- Car averages 10.5L/100kms Converted to gas at 145,000kms, now sitting on 412,000kms. That's 267,000kms on gas. Gas conversion cost ~$4800 with $2750 rebate (call it $2k net cost). Total running cost on gas (incl gas conversion) = (0.53 x 0.12 x 267000) + 2000 = approx $19,000 Total running cost petrol = 1.48 x 0.105 x 267000 = approx $41,500 Savings on gas = 41500 - 19000 = $22,500 SAVED. I bought this car for $12.5k. It's gone beyond paying itself off & owing me nothing, it's basically given me an EXTRA $10k. Mind you that's off today's prices. Averaging out with gas being close to $1/L two summers ago & then petrol being dirt cheap last summer, it's probably closer to $17-18k saved. The prospective buyers are going to <3 this gas system! |

Nice analysis Dave - and yes, it's a great way to go.
Confirmed it is a done deal with a prospective new buyer? |
