I've hit many animals over the years and this is one reason why all of my cars at some point have had a bullbar on them.
I do heaps of country driving and encounter all sorts of wildlife at dawn and dusk when they are most active (Especially roos).
Despite what many people say and in some cases it does happen by so far touch wood I have never had and chassis damage due to hitting large roos with the bullbar.
Might be a worthy investment if you do alot of country driving.
