Hi all.
I have a Series 1 Au Xr6 sedan non vct head.It already has 2.5 inch sports exhaust ,extractors,and some cold air intake that has a snorkel as wide as the freaking radiator. Long story short its now unregistered, valve kissed a piston left a mad indentation on top of the piston as it was snapped in half. So I look at it like this do I A) rebuild the engine, B)buy another engine to throw in or C)Go the extra mile and throw a different engine in.So far I'm leaning towards C). So instead of going AU vct I'm thinking BA?With the engine out i couldn't imagine to be to hard to change the wiring harness and ecu.Also why stop there? I have heard something about a 6speed box fitting in an au?My 5 speed annoys me with the hole crunch into 2nd and reverse. I have priced up engines from the local wrecker in blacktown NSW the engines are $234 with 3 months warrenty whether is tickford/non/au/ba blah blah all wiring harnesses $34 and $77 ecus. I'm an AU man I don't know much about Models after. So the question is.Does anyone know Is it as simple as sticking in Ba motor into and Au changing a wiring harness and computer or are there other modifications needed?Also whats the go with the 6 speed gearbox into au? and has anyone got and other suggestions? |

Much easier to throw another low km au enigne in.
And have the 5 speed rebuilt. Problem solved for next to nothing. |
