Hi guys,
I have a 83 Xe running a 351 clevo with twin gas research throttle bodies....car is straight lpg. Wanting to run a manual choke for cold early morning starts....has anyone done this or have any suggestions.

You want a fast idle.
Thats not so hard. The original GRA Kits used to have 2 solenoids that add-on, one for air, one for metered gas. When the solenoids were on it was like fast idle. How you control would be up to you. Alternately, you could use a (half decent) solenoid that interacted with the primary throttle body so that when it was on, it held the throttle partially open. easy enough to do with a small plate. Again - control would be up to you but there are many ways, including a small thermostat on say the valley Nigel |

Macxr8 it's a 351 clevo with a big lumpy cam once it's all warmed up it's fine but at cold because of cam it'll keep trying to stall out and needs slight pressure on the pedal to keep running.
A choke would allow me to turn up the idle slightly when cold to stop this then return to a normal idle when warm. It was at 1300rpm before when warm which worked fine but it is a bit much for idle. With the size of my cam 1000rpm is better and it's currently set at 1050rpm

Similar theory. Use an XD Choke cable, and set it up to bring the idle up.
Most GRA Systems though have a tiny tiny flat spot on transition - you might find yourself hindered rather than helped. The idea of two solenoids (one air, one gas) might be a better friend to you Nigel |
