Raced this today in the 40degree weather we had here, car didn't miss a beat and ran consistent 12.7s@112mph with a best of 12.70@112.76mph on 8psi. Sadly track prep was crap so I couldn't stall it up. Even a 1500rpm 1/4throttle no boost launch went up in smoke. Quickest times were from punching it off idle which spun a little then hooked and spun again on the change into 2nd. Was great to be competitive at the tree, won all runs were it hooked up, but the heat really sucked. Only did 6 runs, was stupid hot in a car with broken power windows, longs and helmet. Im crossing the line at 6000rpm so looks like I can get to 120 ish mph without using 4th gear at 6500 limiter.

Cars going mint lately just been enjoying driving it. Added 1400cc water/methanol inj to squeeze a bit more boost in. 12psi now and 290 odd rwkw. Stock valve springs still holding up. Ran it yesterday did a best of 11.49@121mph prity happy with it cars been as reliable as a camry lol. Out of diff gear now need to make the switch to 3.45 was buzzing it over 6500rpm across the line with 3.9s.

So last week we chucked the 3.45 diff in and added another 800cc of water meth and upped boost to 14psi making 310rwkw. Drives good on road will turn tires in 3rd coming on boost no worries. Loaded trailer with camping gear, spare trans, convertor, diff etc and got some more jerry cans of e85. Made the 750km drive to Heathcote raceway no dramas. Friday night track was sketchy as the change to 2nd gear broke the tyres loose like a blown trans or something just reved out. Did a bunch of 14s and seen everyone else had no traction too.

Sat was much better went 11.77 first pass out on nankang street tyres 2psi launch. 4psi launch next run went up in smoke. Put the ets on and ran consistent low-mid 11s all day with a best of 11.2@125. Then sun smashed another pb of 11.1@127mph. Then drove back home no dramas car was reliable as.

We used 350litres of e85 over the weekend getting there and racing 3 days. Fuel econ was s**t towing trailer averaged 20l/100 haha.

Keen to squeeze a bit more boost next fit the plenum bigger injectors and try for a 10.

Been a while since an update. Finally tracked down a ba egas motor that had good compression in all cyls. These motors have the thicker rods and 10.7 comp and will handle more boost than the n/a motors. Put it in to find issues with dropping a cyl randomly under load. Swapped lifters and rocker gear as well as cams from the original known good motor. That still didn't fix it. Turned out it had 120+psi oil pressure causing lifters to pump up. All this has been non turbo as I had wanted to fit our new plenum n/a to see the changes. Thinner 5w30 oil from 15w40 has fixed the issue 70psi hot oil pressure now.

Anyway once lifter issues were sorted and a quick tune done it run up a consistent 150rwkw with no mods still using factory exh manifold and crappy xr6t rear muffler chopped to suit (green run bbm butterflies working, blue run bbm butterflies wired open). Bolted the plenum on, new throttle cable setup to suit and it now runs up 165rwkw with no tune changes, purple run, left strapped down same overnight, same ramp rate etc.

Then we retarded the intake cam one tooth and it ran up 171rwkw, red run. As you can see doing that trades a lot of low down power for just a little more up high and peak power is pushed out to 5750rpm.

Probably put turbo back on next once ive got bigger injectors.
