Building 32 f/glass roadster using engine from Ford Fairlane automatic NC. 5 ltr EFI V8 . We want to quit the EFI and use a carby and T5 manual box and use a non EFI disy. My question is what disy will fit, and will the T5 and clutch from a XR 8 mate up with this crank. Can we use a harmonic balancer from a non EFI crank. We bought a disy on the net and the drive gear is smaller and the shaft is shorter and it's now somewhere
out in the yard. This is a complected mess , we would value help with this problem. If you are not an expert on this subject please don't try to help. Thanks Flyblwn Peter. |

The performance will be much better with EFI but, If you really want to go carby then a dizzy like this will do the trick....
http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/m ... el/mustang Note the trick when searching, is to pick a late model 5.0 with a Steel gear for the roller cam. You can use a balancer from a non-EFI engine but you must specify a 50oz imbalance, not an early Pre-82 28oz imbalance version. Why do you want to change the balancer? Also remember that some balancers have different timing marker positions due to left and right hand inlet water pumps. Are you going to retain the Serpentine drive?(I would, it’s far better than V-belts) If you don’t, the timing cover and pump will need changing to a standard rotation V-belt type because the Serpentine setup is reverse rotation. The T5,clutch and flywheel from an XR8 will work because the XR8 is the same engine. |
