Ok, now this car is really doing my head in. 12v approx at battery with engine off. Drops to 10v at cranking. So far all ok. Idle charge was around 12v, but as I revved motor voltage incresed higher and higher the higher it revved. Max was around 15v. Is that to high?? Alt charge light is also dodgy. Some times no light , some times it's dull.

Should be at 14.4v when charging correctly.
It will drop when cranking and when accessories are on, ie lights and other stuff that uses electricity.

charge at idle is low & slightly hi with revs -
change alt or change regulator and check fan belt tension
