Hey guys, had a look through the forums, couldnt find much on this so here goes.

I only have ONE set of keys for my car, just bought and additional keyfob off ebay...thats the easy part....easily programmed in with help of tech documents :P

Question is what about the key? How do i get an additional key, i dont wanna goto ford and get ripped off....what are my options? Do the keys in a '95 EF Futura a microchip controlled key? or does all the codes come from the keyfob?

Thanks guys
Luke

I aksed about this a while back. There is no microchip you just have to get it cut from a locksmith, which will set you back around 60 i got told. Just ring around and ask if they do tibbe locks.

If you have no luck with locksmiths, you can try this dude: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 4554668394 . Even though the auction has ended, he should have keys in stock, and can cut it to suit - shouldn't cost you any more than $25 all up (incl postage).

ok....so if i can just go get one copied and it works, how does the immobilser work?

they break in, and try to hot wire it....where do these magic codes come from that it send to the BEM? Lets say u open your car with the key, then start it.....u never use the keyfob and it still starts....

from my understanding..
the little noches on the key reflect light at a certain angle in the ignition..
so the ignition when u turn the key, it flashes some leds, and if it reflects in the correct place, it is a correct code, if it doesnt, its an incorect code, and it stops the vehicle from starting....
