Hi,
I have an XG ute 4.0/auto that recently started to die when it heated up a little bit, then not start to cool down, replaced ignition module, same problem, replaced relays same problem. Eventually it just stopped starting at all (batteries fine etc). Further inspection there was no spark coming from the coil, replaced with known working item, still no power. Am I right to assume that ECU is the culprit? (tagged as e-series as it is an e-series motor) |

Thanks for getting the crayons out for me.
I interperated Ignition Module as the ignition barrel, a regular culprit on ignition failing. If your XG has smartlock, does the light flash when ignition is on? or is it on steady? If its on solid, try banging either side of the glovebox while cranking. and also, check ALL fuses, I mean check not 'look'

All fuses have been checked, all fine, replaced important ones anyway, also replaced important relays with items known to work.
Starting to think it might be a Smartlock issue. The light was staying on solid before, now (or maybe just this time) it isn't showing up while cranking.... I only assumed it might be the coil after replacing the TFI, it would start run for while then stop, now it wont start at all so I guessed the coil might be on the way out. The coil i replaced it with was known to be working, no spark going from coil to dissy, so coil must not be getting power. Didn't mean to rude, it has been a few long hot days..... |
