yay, another post on here...its hard to believe this is my 47th thread
well i purchased a running XG ute to donor for my ZK fairlane to put the 4.0L in, i have done pretty much everything and am down to starting it. but guess what?!?! NO SPARK(no power to coil)!!! I have checked/replaced coil (3 different ones including one from my daily) complete distributor with TFI(including one from daily again) ECU the relays near brake booster ALL relays in engine bay swapped with ones out on my daily fuses the interior lights working the smart-lock is working(steady flash with key off, lights up for bout 2-3sec with key on then turns off) i have gone over every earth i can find and all seem tight and clean. i am using the dash, engine, steering column and ignition out of the donor XG(which i had driven into driveway before transplant). now only different thing is i am using a 3spd auto temporarily until i get manual. but i don't have a wiring loom for the g-box so i have run a loop in the loom plug for the neutral switch so the engine turns over on key. can someone list ALL things the power for coil has to travel through to spark it? e.g. fuses, TFI, smart-lock ect ect just in case i have missed something. thanks in advance |

Hello,
Have you thought about running a wire from a fuse directly to the Coil ? See if that gets it started. When you have a problem and start swapping things you can introduce extra faults. Other times things that were ready to fail let go, and you assume you caused the problem. If it starts ( new power wire ) you can follow the original wiring back until you find the fault.

96ELGli wrote: Hello, Have you thought about running a wire from a fuse directly to the Coil ? hi, yea i have done that. no luck. fortunately after getting desperate, i pulled the dash out and found a 6 pin plug next to the vacuum junction on heater box was left unplugged. after putting that back in and reassembling the dash....viola....spark. sorted out fuel pump and now she is running. |
