Hi. I've got a Zetec I've just finished converting to Rear Wheel Drive (Retro-Ford kit from UK), and I've also got a conversion kit to add an EB falcon 'World Class' T5 (custom bellhousing & cluth) all to go into one of my MK-1 Escorts. I would really like to do a distributor ignition system, instead of electronic ........... not only for the $$, but also for the fact that I like to go places out bush to 'play', and don't want s**t computer problems in a rally car, especially with up to 100k's between towns out here in northern S.A.. If something stops, I want to be able to get it going without having to wait a week to get & replace a $700 computer just to make spark (if EFI, triple that price, and the problems that can happen).
I've got adapters already so I can have an original type 2L GT Weber carby on it, so an original type ignition system would be great too.
I've sen UK cars (zetec or Zetec SE) that have a belt drive dizzy off the exhaust cam gear ....... something like that is what I'm looking for, or looking to have made up.
The other MK-1 of mine will get the same drive-train but all computerized ignition & fuel system, it's just my cross country MK-1 I want 'old school' simplicity with a new engine.
Any help, parts for sale I can use, etc will be greatly appreciated.

(to save people saying it, yes I could just go electronic, but for reasons stated, I'm choosing not too with this car)

you could mount a flat FWD toyota style dizzy (or maybe even a cut down escort one) directly to one of the camshaft sprockets, looking at pics of my old motor (zetec silvertop) there would be enough room depending on your radiator choice.
