Hmmm did you set the timing properly? because the last thing you need is a pre-det, im changing distributar and ignition coil thursday so we'll see how that one goes, good luck.

O.K From what ive been able to gather, if it was ignition coil it would screw up then stay screwed, TFI module can cause this by the little metal parts inside it expanding with heat and seperating, then contracting back to touch when cold and its cheaper to fix first then the entire dizzy, the dizzy could be on the way out for sure, but to start with try distributor EARTH!! mainly the peice of metal that holds it in place when you set the base timing that is my prblem.....I didnt frigen have one on there so shes sweet now!! Just take off the throttle body and look properly its the only way to be sure!!

Hi... i know these cars are almost antique in age as are the previous messages but Ive had the same problem car would stop anywhere normally about 2 or 3k then it would restart after 5 - 10 mins
It had nothing to do with coils, distrubutors, leads or ignition module. Thats just a mechaniecs catch for some bread and butter in my case. The problem is the smart lock system, it shuts down ignition. I had a door handle replaced which connects to a smartlock actuator in the door. I disconected the steel wire to the actuator .... bravo months and months of problem stopping at lights in traffic everywhere really, gone. Ford gave me nightmares for month.... glad they are over for now till next problem arises.. |
