Hi from Johannesburg. I am looking for a heater tube that I am told is obsolete in South Africa and Aust. My mechanic wants to replace the welsh plugs but says that as soon as he moves the pipe it will break. Can anyone assist me here in getting the part or a suggestion on what I can do as I don't want the Fairmont made obsolete due to one small pipe. The VIN is 6FPAAAJGSWXT69833 and build date is 30/07/1999. I have a friend in Sydney who can bring the part back to South Africa in mid-December. I can make payment via EFT from my ANZ account in Oz. On the attachment it is item 6. Cheers and thanks, Charlie

It shouldn't break when removed, they are quite solid. Your best chance if you want one anyway is get your friend in Sydney to go to a pick a part type wrecker, I'm sure there are plenty of second hand ones! If you are super worried don't replace the welsh plugs that you can't remove with the pipe in place.

They snap if old where the small tube come off. Also many times you will find the small tube rusted out.

New one, see if they will post to South Africa of get you Aussie mate to buy it and sent it to you. Also get the factory O ring from Ford.

SWC is right... That is the most common place for them to fail... Lack of coolant or coolant changes will cause them to corrode too...

If it is that small pipe that is the issue, you could always cut it off, flare the big pipe and then run straight hose and make/get an brass tee arrangement to get the same effect...

Now that they make then aftermarket but, that may be a better option...

Cheers,
Tim
