a little mystery, i was on a run from one town to another & i over took a mate & he promptly messaged me "you have tons of water & smoke coming out of your exhaust" i know what you all are thinking "headgasket" right? wrong! compression checks are fine and i'm not losing any coolant, not even a little! levels have been constant for months, I'm not losing coolant not even a tiny drop!
the smoke can be put down to worn valves because the car is approaching 400k and it's been a towing rig, & skid rig, a rally rig, a Taxi, a long distance driver, basically it's had a hard life & it's set to retire shortly because of bad rust! it starts first time every time, doesn't cough or splutter & has plenty of power and doesn't lose coolant! but despite coolant levels remaining level i still have water coming out the exhaust? can anyone shed any light on this mystery?

What colour was the smoke?
Could be wrong, but excess fuel being pushed out of the exhaust before it can evaporate? I mean they run rich as is at normal acceleration.

From what I remember, bluish smoke is oil burning, white smoke = water vapour, black smoke = excessive fuel.
Are you going through oil? Could be leaking valve or stuck PCV? Seeing it is dark grey, could be a mix between excessive fuel and a bit of burning oil? I assume only under heavy acceleration.
