Hi I just bought an 1997 EL Fairmont 6cyl, could anyone tell me what the standard height from centre hub cap to the guard as the previous owner had raised it for towing. Also the car runs fine starts fine drives well only thing at idle it vibrates, at first it was vibrating firm so I started off with an engine & fuel system cleaner about 1 week ago which has toned it down should I follow with cleaning the throttle body and replace plugs and leads?

Check your engine mounts, especially on the drivers side.

If yours is fitted with the oil fill mounts (round), they can cllapse and rest metal on metal causing vibration at idle.

Yeah I think I do have the round ones, got someone to rev the motor while I looked through the engine bay there was no lift in the motor it didn't move, but I didn't think of the mounts collapsing. I might have to get it fully checked out. Thanks for the replies.
