Hey everyone, doing a manual conversion on my au II xr6 ute, stuck with the wiring aspects. I will be using a j3 with a manual conversion programmed on, but understand I still have to sort out the loom for the reverse and neutral switch. What's my best option here? Details and photos appreciated! Also how do I sort out the cruise control too? Cheers

For the gearbox wiring, you need to get loom to suit the gearbox and the plug it in to the socket in engine bay. Have you got an AU manual pedal box? The clutch pedal has a switch that disengages the cruise

You can connect just the reverse lights to the gearbox, and bypass the neutral switch (short the wires). The speedo wires are the same, and the ECU/Solenoid Wires can be left in place and not connected.
If you have the J3 chip, you will be on your way. Im not sure if the AU has a clutch switch for idle quality, but there is a switch for the cruise control. It disengages the cruise when you depress the clutch, and then reengages it as you release. Many people have run without the clutch switch on cruise. But its your call - if you dont have it, and you depress the clutch while cruise is accelerating you may find the engine pegged on the limiter Cheers Nigel |
