Hello everybody,
have installed a series 2 ghia dash in my au 1 falcon ute and I am not sure about a few things on some forums I have been advised that I need the series 2 engine bay wiring harnesses to match the dash but I was looking here and matti has written a piece that indicates that all the pin connections are the same for all the au models I am not sure what to do the car is finished so I really dont want to pull it apart again but I do need it to run I have all the donor car electrics in the cab just not the engine bay wiring harnesses btw my ute was a very late au so it is actually a series 1.5 I really need some help with this thanks steve

The main body loom is different between smartlock and smartshield (the two styles of remote)...

I found this out as when I did the AU2 retrofit into my ED I was given an AU1 body harness and the colours didn't follow through the plugs to the dash... The biggest difference I can remember was the AU1 (black buttoned remote) would only ever unlock all doors at the same time... The AUII (coloured button remote) would give you the ability to first unlock the drivers door and then the remaining doors...

So that's one difference... All the other looms I had were AU2 so not sure myself...

I did plug all my electronics together but to prove the smartshield modules were paired, and then plugged into the engine loom on my brothers AUI and it ran his motor like that...

Cheers,
Tim

i thought the AU1 with smartshield was the series 1.5 as with the AU2/3 being the full smartshield?

Does your remote have black buttons or coloured buttons?

I'm not asking you if matti (who hasn't been on here for years) said the body looms were the same or not... I am telling you I had to buy an AUII body loom for my AUII dash loom because the AUI body loom didn't work with the AUII dash loom... The wiring did not line up across the plugs... The AUI body loom did not support the dual stage unlocking that the AUII features for one... My low series XR module is pink in my AUII

Compare your dash loom to your body loom across the plugs and see if all the wiring colours line up... You'll soon know if it is going to work or not...

Cheers,
Tim

the difference is in the cluster, so a series1 or 1.5 cluster isnt 100% compatable with series 2 and 3..
some things just dont work...
easiest way is just use the right model cluster

looking on ebay nope there not found a 99 one with orange numbering. 99 would make it S1 wouldn't it
