Haha the original pedal box isn't the "best" its s**t, that's why everyone one you see with a heavier clutch the box is shagged. Use the Malwood pin or reinforce the original one.

That's why I welded some 25 mm angle over the back of the pin. That's why there is white paint all over the inside.

The original and the best is an advertising tagline for some product I don't remember.

after you reinforce your firewall, the new weak point becomes the pedal box. so make sure you reinforce both at the same time.

after that then all you need to do is replace stretched clutch cables

you can remove and install the pedal box without taking the entire dash out i have done it before you still have to remove steering column, handbrake then remove the dash cluster then behind that is the air duct which you can pop that section out then you can get to the top three bolts that hold the pedal box

it's not like the dash is hard to pull out.
But I used the origina; pedal box. Come out of a factory manual EA1 Fairmont Ghia.
And went into my EA1 Fairmont Ghia. So the pedal box had the vacuum port and clutch switch so the cruise works all correctly. Cancels when the clutch or brake a pressed
