Hey Lads,
I have purchased a series 1 EL XR8 auto and it has a busted head gasket and an alternator that doesn't charge. As its only a 170kw engine i decided it not worth fixing and looked into getting a new motor with a bit more power for a conversion.
I have found a donor car which is an AUII XR8 manual.
I am not wanting to convert the gearbox to manual as my wife only has her auto license just the engine and I was wondering if there was anything stopping the AU engine from going into the EL? Has anybody done this conversion before that could help or point me to a forum post that might help.
Also I have a set of pacemaker tri-y's into a single 2.5 will themail extractors fit on the gt 40p heads?
Thanks heaps!

I have been able to find out heaps of information from calling up various different companies and wreckers.
It seems like the easiest way to do it will be to use all my EL computer, wiring and p/s pump as well as the el throttle body and just plonk the au motor in.
I found out that the pacemaker tri-y's will fit with a bit of mucking around and I can get a j3 chip with a tune to take advantage of the improved heads and intake from the later model engine.
I will post pictures of the car as is and then when I get the new motor in and how I do it in case other people would like to do something similar.
Here's hoping my research was indeedoing correct! :)

That's about right. For ease of adapting you need to use the EL water pump, balancer and front dress as well.
