I have just got myself a 2008 fg with 5 speed auto,my problem is the oil cooler was damaged and oil has gone.
2 things i need help with is 1 how do you put the oil in it 2 how do you know when the level is correct i have searched in here and on the net but the 2 things i need to know are not to be found any help would be great Brian |

i would think it be the same as the 4 speed
should be a filler plug on one side of the gearbox add the correct fluid with a pump untill it flows out. start the car and even take it for a drive ( if you have the rear wheels off the ground no need ) make sure you move through the gears ie D 1,2,3 R etc and then check again if it does not flow out add more!

Well you know nothing about what i was asking about,but saw fit to tell me to buy a manual,sorry for sounding as silly as you,i already have a manual all it says is to consult the dealer,i came here asking a legit question,your answer to me was just being smart,my next post will be how to do it,read it and you might be able to help somebody one day

I found out how to find the level on the 5 speed auto,it is the same box as the ford explorer of the same year as the fg
As per you tube videos ,you start the engine and get it up to normal temp You then remove the small torx bung that is inside the auto sump plug Then you add oil with a pump through the bung hole You keep pumping it in until it starts running out when it stops running out it is full In my case it took another 3ltrs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUP-nOsoJMA I hope this may help others with the same problem Brian |
