hi

was wondering have a ef fairmont and sometimes it pulls to one side and sometimes steering wheel shakes a little and is also off centre.

the front left tyres worn on outside edge only and the front right alittle but not bad.

what would cause all that? steering rack? wheel alignment? camber? castor?

do you have to replace whole rack or can you replace rack ends

any chance itd be the rack doing all above including off centre steering wheel or bushes

You ask what is causing the issue that you stated, get an anwser and then say it needs other suspension work.

As for your steering rack, how much free play is in the steering wheel? It is highly unlikley that the rack is causing the issues that you are stating.

Get under the car and check the following;
1) Tie Rod ends.
2) Ball joints.
3) Upper and Lower Control Arm bushes ( and all other bushes while you are there)
4) Wheel Bearings.

Replace what is worn and "Get a Wheel Alignment".

hi

done some measuring up with a tape measure using the tread closest to outside as a guide and

distance between the front part of the front tyres is 1610mm and back part of front tyres is 1630mm

distance between back tyres is 1633mm

whats reason of why theres a pull to one side and steering wheels off centre

toe in or out or camber or castor

It can be a combination of problems causing it to pull...

Tires that are already worn poorly will cause a car to pull... You have proved nothing with your tape measure other than that you have toe in...

Different camber on either side can cause pulling one way... too much caster on one side can cause pulling... Flogged out bushes can cause pulling (mine had lower inner bushes and arm to radius rod bushes that were worn causing odd pulling, new bushes fixed it)...

Start off with rotating your wheels so you have evenly worn tires on the steer... Confirm you have no worn bushes... And get a wheel alignment... And I cannot stress enough that:

YOU CANNOT FIX THIS YOURSELF WITH A TAPE MEASURE...

You adjust caster then camber then toe when doing an alignment and you have no way to check the caster...

Steering wheel is off centre because the last d***head that fiddled with the toe in didn't set it off the rear wheels, they just locked the wheel in the middle and did the toe in without reference to the rear wheels....

Cheers,
Tim
