Hey guys just wondering whats involved in setting up a log mani from an early e series instead of running the bbm in my el as i have heard this is the way to go when boosting. Anything else needed apart from the manifold itself? Wiring? Any help appreciated
Thanks heaps |

from what i understand the tensioner will need to be changed to the XG/XH style [not the XR6 version] so it don't foul on the intake manifold. i'm currently thinking of fitting one but the $$ for said item has put me off a little. will get around to fitting the log onto a AU motor i have here to see whats what....
good luck with the turbo Ps. the BA etc have the turbo's fitted from factory with 'standard' intakes ... only mod is removal of the runner blades [change the runner lengths] from what i've read? |

The butterflys could be removed from your manifold, you would need to get the "holes" welded up where the shaft went through and mating surfaces machined flat again.

i experimented with the butterflies in the au manifold in my turbo ed and with them removed it made no difference in peak power at all, but with them in and operational it made significantly more low end torque and especially at the point of spool up with the same peak power..
imo ,overall it was much better with the butterflies operating.. |

So far i think ill need the xh tensioner and throttle cable.
Main reason for converting is i dont want to run cooler piping all the way up and around the bbm to the throttle body. Not sure if ill need any wiring or vac lines from a wreck along with the log mani |
