Just FYI guys - especially the thread mining champion - you can now get genuine USA-made Cometic head gaskets for the AU and BA I6, as well as ARP head studs. If the block and head surfaces are properly prepped, they will seal with decent amounts of boost.
Cheers,

The cause needs to be found first before you go spending heaps on parts.
I would think that it either has a warped head or that it is building up heaps of crankcase pressure (or both). If it was me I would be going straight to your crankcase ventilation & making it bigger everywhere. The breather in the rocker cover & the opening on the intake tube (before throttle body) needs to be opened up. The PCV valve needs a decent check valve to stop *boost pressurizing the crank under WOT. You will need a couple of decent oil separators too (not Filters). I put one in before the PCV valve, one in the catch can & one in the rocker to intake breather tube. They need to be fitted so they sit straight up & down so the separated oil will flow back to the motor & the catch can. I had to make all of my separators from Ally tubing which I sealed with fiberglass. The one that sits in the PCV valve opening has been there for over two years now & it hasn't cracked or melted(& it gets Dam hot). My Barra used to seep oil around the head gasket until I got rid of its indigestion. Now it releases all of its crankcase pressure & has next to no blow-by anywhere. It would have to be one of the best mods I have ever done to my supercharged 4.0 engine. It turned my motor from being a Hot & glitchy cantankerous beast into a cool running lethal weapon over night. |
