If it's just a bolt in job then that will make it real easy. I'll have to see if the local wreckers has any on Monday.

My ute is the same as this....No speaker mount just a big cavity.

There is always this option but the speakers would need to sit a little higher as I have the factory Ford cabin tidy in my ute.

If you haven't got the factory mesh or bracket then I guess there is no point staying 5x7s. If I get a chance I'll post a photo with the trims back on so you get what I mean. Is this the factory mesh you were talking about? I'm going to have to hunt around for some like this...

I'm guessing it's going to be very difficult to find the entire backing along with the speaker mesh. Went to the local wreckers yards today and none of them had any.

yes up spec ute parts are hard to find. If you go your own way you could just make your mount wherever you want it, then install the carpet, then install the speakers and use the aftermarket mesh, I'm assuming that's what was done in the earlier posted pic.

What I did consider using as mesh is the speaker covers from the rear parcel shelf of a AU and mounting them in an effort to make it look factory...Mainly because I don't like my chances of finding the proper fectory backing with the mesh in it.

That would also work, they're the same part I think.

{USERNAME} wrote: That would also work, they're the same part I think. The local scrap metal place has an old AU out in the yard that I can get the black rear parcel shelf speaker mesh from so it will work well. Then all I'll need will be the factory speaker mounts.

I got my speaker mesh from the scrap yard today...Mint condition and all the mounting points are perfect too.
Now all I need are the bolt in factory speaker mounts then I can fit the rear speakers into my ute and wire them up. The tricky part will be cutting the side trim for the speaker mesh to clip in. Anyone got a template of the correct shape and size?

Well, The speakers are in and all wired up...Great to finally have rear speakers in the ute (Even if they are factory Ford 5x7's for now until I upgrade). All I need to do now is make the holes for the speaker grills to fit in and I'm done. I wired them up to the speaker wiring at the plug on the stereo rather than the door speakers as it was easier to do and all the speaker wire is completely hidden under the carpet.
I'll have pics tomorrow.
