hi, im asking for a friend about this. he has a 90 ford courier fitted with approx 94-97 2.6 efi engine. it sucked in some water when 4x4ing and we suspect it had done the airflow sensor. we can fine heaps of sensors of these and bravos but only issue is his air flow sensor has 6 pins as does the plug and all the ones we have found are 6 pin but with he 5th pin cut short.
question is: WILL THE 5 PIN PLUGS WORK ON AN ENGINE WITH AN ORIGINAL 6PIN A/F SENSOR??? the plugs on all are the same, its just the missing 5th pin that has got him skeptical. he doesn't want to buy a 5 pin on the chance that it might not work and he wont get a refund but i'm trying to convince him to do it. the engines seem identical and the cars are of same eara, and 4x4 also so i honestly don't see why it wont work. any insight to confirm my suspicions would be great. thanks people. |

UPDATE!!!
didn't find out much about the different MAF sensors. BUT, the symptoms we had were: car would start, idle for about 1-2 seconds and stall. unplug the MAF and car would run indefinitely but a little rough. we checked/changed: MAF crank angle sensor fuses fuel pressure spark leads plugs coil TPS ect. after a bit of thinking and discussing, we picked up that the car had water inside from previous bog holes and when the nose of the 4wd had dropped into the hole, the water on inside had rushed forward and gone inside ECU and shorted it out. turns out the ECU was the cause of the issue. changed it and the car is running fine now. hope this helps anyone who suffered the same issue. |
