I have just purchased a FG 08 XR6 na,6speed auto..
The day after purchase I was cleaning interior and had stereo running and door opened..after approx 30mins,the car failed to start and showed up all the possible fault codes and clicking when trying to start it..it said immob fault,abs fault,airbag fault and dsc fault..
I had NRMA come out and diagnose that i needed a new battery..
He jump started me and the car started again the next morning..
I purchased a new 650cca battery next day and had it installed..
Car ran perfect for a day..
Next night I took the fam for some Hungry Jacks and we sat in car with stereo on for approx 30mins whilst we ate..
Then same thing again..car didn't start with same symptoms..
I had alternator checked and the guy said the battery was holding charge,so not alternator issue..
I have turned down brightness on screen,turned off follow me home feature and gone back to manual headlights instead of the auto function..
Just waiting for this to happen again
Anyone experienced this or have a possible solution..Greatly appreciated.

This will run down your battery. 30 mins without charging ( engine running) and depending on what the radio sucks out, will kill a battery pretty quickly. However, having said that, one would think that a new battery would have a bit more "tolerance". I would be checking out the earths, both the battery and engine earths.

Never had an issue with any other car using stereo without car running..
Will definitely get the earths checked though..
Really hoping this doesn't become a gremlin I can't solve

Was the new battery fully charged when you bought it ???
recharge to be certain...

have auto elect recheck your charging and check for possible drain as it may be draining down over a couple of days depending on how much driving it gets -he should be able to check how much current draw there was with the items you had on also...
were you using a amp.when sitting there ?

if it is a battery problem .... it may take a few times checking to see problem. bought a brand new battery [forgotten name/type] quite a few years ago and had problems at times starting car due to a 'flat' battery. the battery/alternator was checked 3/4 times by the battery supplier & my local sparky before my sparky said it was the battery. he almost missed the result as he was just about to disconnect test equipment.
