I have a series 1 au Xr6 manual ute. I want to fit a 302, 4 speed auto from a series 1 au XR8 sedan. What to watch out for and common traps? The last conversions I have done was Clevelands into xd's and e's

You could do an EFI cleveland in there if you wanted also.

I just did a similar conversion on my AU wagon - best advice - get a complete running donor car and swap EVERYTHING. You may have to cut and join the fuel lines back under the car somewhere, but the rest should just swap over. Make sure both cars are the same series, and watch out for the AU 1.5 series - there are differences to S1 and S2/3.
Good luck with it.

Injection for a clevo would probably cost more than the whole car I'm picking up. Actually a lot more. Cleveland would need to be straight lpg. Saw a write up on liquid gas injection I liked

You could do petrol and with the right hyd roller conversion it will pass and of course Trick flow already do the intake and you could use any number of different heads. Already done a 351w that passed. A 351w will be easier in terms of front engine dress otherwise costs are similar. |

Straight gas on the clevo for legal / engineering requirements. At least in Qld. Injected 351 Windsor out of a late model f truck or bronco wouldn't be bad though.
