Hey guys,
I've picked up a cheap bf xt. The doors won't stay locked and the door ajar light stays on. I've read it's an actuator or bcm at fault. Ive tried to isolate the actuator. Only the drivers door turns the interior light on. It won't turn off without pressing the button on the dash. The 3 other doors do not activate the interior light. Should they in this model? Unplugging each actuator and pressing the locking button inside doesn't help lock the car nor does it turn off the door ajar light. I can unplug all actuators including the boot and the door ajar light stays on. I've noticed the other doors don't actuate properly with the drivers actuator unplugged so I've replaced this one and the same thing happens. Any ideas to further isolate an actuator? Can only ford scan it and determine if the bcm needs replacing? Thanks, Dan |

I went down to pick a part and got my 4 2nd hand actuators.
No mix of actuators rectified the problem so I'm assuming it's the BCM. How are these normally changed? Can I do it myself and get an auto elec out to code it? Do I have to go to Ford and let them remove and refit a new one? |

In case anyone else has the same problem.
I bought a $20 elm327 OBD2 adapter off ebay and downloaded forscan for free. Plugged her in and loaded up the 4 door ajar and trunk open PID's. It told me the left front door is ajar when it's not so that narrows down my problem heaps. The one I got from pick a part must have been a dud or I have a wiring issue. |
