I may have spoken about this before but my memory cant recall.

I no longer get cold air when I run my air conditioning system. Some time ago I noticed some type of steam vapour coming out of the front central air vent. I have not used the aircon for some time since that happened.

Yesterday, I switched on the aircon , I did hear the compressor engage and notice it was cycling but no cold air was coming through, except the air from the blower.

I took the aircon to a place in Slacks Creek (Qld) for testing and regas. I told the aircon bloke about the problem. I was told he would need the car for an hour to run a test.

Only 5 minutes went by, bloke told me I must have a leak, I said where is the leak?, bloke replied , don't know but might be the compressor.

I would have thought a green dye would be used and some type of UV light used to see where the dye came from.

I was not charged any fee for the test.

Can someone here enlighten me as to whether that bloke was taking crap.

I've picked up another Sanden compressor from the wreckers. I was told the compressor is in good order.

Cant afford to buy a brand new compressor due to financial constraints.

Can anyone let me know what needs to be done to remove the old compressor and replace with the one I have?

What you said earlier convinces me the bloke at the aircon place was talking crap, it's impossible to do a test in 5 minutes and tell me I have a leak.

What steps are required to remove the compressor from the vehicle? Any special tools apart from removing whatever gas (most likely none) is left in the system?
