There are some in the US doing kits for the 5.4L truck motors but haven't seen anything in AU.
Do Google search. |

would you not be better off finding a 290 and blowing that?
sell off the 260 to offset some of the cost? could work out cheaper in the long run

Stroking an already way under-square engine is not a good idea. There's already too much flying around in there. Your best bet is to get a 290 or greater engine and supercharge or turbocharge it.

Yes Frank,
A 5.4 is effectively already a stroker 4.6 which is essentially a square engine already. To get the extra displacement Ford couldn't bore the small bored(3.552")/small bore centred(3.937") block to do it. They had to increase stroke(4.6 = 3.53" stroke). but doing this in the short deck height of the 4.6(8.937") with an already short compression height piston(1.22" CH) would have resulted in shocking rod angle/rod ratio and horrendous durability. So, by increasing the deck height to 10.097" and using a 6.658" long rod(4.6 is 5.933") with the same 1.22" CH piston they achieved a reasonable rod angle even with the long 4.165" stroke. Another reason the 5.4 needs help in the low end torque dept(especially the DOHC engines) is that the long rod creates low piston speed at TDC which means they're a good candidate for supercharging which improves low rpm cylinder filling. |
