I recently put a lsd out of an el xr6 into my el futura, while I had the diff out I put some sl king springs and out the diff back in. After everything was bolted up I went for a drive and had a really bad vibration coming from the driveshaft and was told to put the old stock height springs back in, because it's a problem in the rear driveshaft universal joint, with the pinion angle becoming too great rear uni.

I put the springs back in and the most of the vibration is gone, small amount there but it's now drivable, I'm going to unbolt the driveshaft and spin it 180 to see if that helps but would like some suggestions if anyone has any

Does it vibrate under load or when you are coasting? The original tailshaft would have a mark to match the original diff, so maybe you might need to rotate the tailshaft

Underload it vibrates, coasting it feels fine. The original tailshaft has a marking but the lsd I put in was left out on the elements and the marking have since disappeare, I'll try rotating it tomorrow to see if that helps

If the markings on the LSD were visible, it would have been markings lined up with its tailshaft. So if you use different tailshaft and diff, the marking may not line up.

Not sure if this is true, but the tailshaft is balanced with the diff hence the marking to make sure it is correctly put back the right way?

Hope rotating fixes it!

Rotating the tailshaft didn't help, I noticed one of the axle bearings was real loose so I changed that and have since taken it too a mechanic. My mechanic things whomever put the diff together has put it together too tight or wrong because when trying to turn one side while holding the other it's impossible both spin at the same time so I'm just about ready to throw the old diff back in

has your mechanic verified that it's NOT a LSD diff :?:

I opened it up and all the gears were in perfect condition, no grinding marks or metal shavings in the oil so I assumed it was fine.

Do you know what would cause it to only spin both even with someone holding the other side trying to stop it from spinning

Got it in one!!!!

Normally, when one lower a sedan, one puts in the top rear control arms from an XR6, which changes the diff angle. Have a look at them side by side, you will see the difference

One can overcome the vibrations by increasing the angle of the engine/gearbox by putting washers between the g'box crossmember and body. Trial and error

Try using the rear mount point on the diff for the upper control arm.
