Hi There,

Can the unit be replaced? I have the standard system and this sort of thing interests me -

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BA-BF-FORD-GT-F6 ... 1|294%3A50

Ive been told they can not be put on their side... how can it be transported? And don't they need reprogramming by ford?

Thats a duel zone model. There is a lot of mods needed if you want to install duel zone climate control. If i were you i would look for one with the single zone control.

There is a few different types of ICC in the B series. There is the pov pack, whick is the monochrome screen, with the standard AC.
Then there wass one that could be optioned up on the XR's. Colour screen and 6 stack, but kept the manual AC.
On the Fairmonts, there was the Monochrome ICC, 6 stack and the climate control and the ghias which has the colour screen, 6 stack and the dual zone.

If you have the standard ICC, try to hunt the colour screen out of the XR. They sell on ebay for about $750. From what I have read, it is tricky to do the climate conversion.

I haven't looked too much into it, as I never ended up buying a BA.

As total said you would probably be better off buying the colour screen with 6 stacker and manual air con.
Thats what i will be after when i do mine.

duel zone is definately not an easy task, it includes changing things from looms to the passenger side mirror. You can get the premium colour screen icc without the 6 stack. Ferntree gully sells the colour icc to forum members for around the $700 mark.

I have done icc conversion on 3 cars and have installed head units to 4 cars. Honestly mate, if ur not willing to put in a head unit in tissue box holder, I wouldnt bother wasting $700 on colour screen, sure it looks better but thats about it, you arent going to get much of a sound improvement at all, simply put, the icc's just dont punch out enough power to give the speakers a decent sound.

The speakers in the b series arent actually a bad speaker, they are pioneer and have decent bass when run properly, the improvement ive heard on stock speakers is amazing just by putting in a head unit.

Thats just my 2c mate, I install stereo systems mainly in b series falcons and by experience premium colour screen or normal crap screen, system sounds the same, $700 is a waste of money if ur not willing to spend another $150 on a head unit

They can't be put on their side due to the floating CD player components, that is, once they are no longer vertical, gravity takes over and the s**t falls apart
They are usually transported in ASL's special black box but I've only ever handled em when I was in the W/S back in the day. So and box with padding and a "This Way Up" and "Fragile" stickers will do the job.
It wont need programming once you've put your BEM into it from your ICC. I can't remember but there maybe one other module too. IIRC that is :)

sorry mate I have to disagree. These things are NOWHERE near as fragile as people make them out to be. Ive worked with alot of this units and aslong as they arent dropped, they arent as easy to break as some ppl think.

fair enough, although I've never been lucky enough to try the theory so will take your word on it.

Slicer - These are a good upgrade regardless, aesthetics at least. Not everyone like the look of a 2nd head unit stuck underneath. There are plenty of options for amps etc to be run off these. If thats what youre after, you wont be winning any DB drags with it however.

my 2 cents, the ba stock speakers arent worth what i flushed away in the dunny after last nights curry. a modest upgrade does the world of good. as others have said, upgrading to dual zone climate can be done, but is a pain in the a**. best off to go for a icc with the 6 stack from a futura, or get one from an xr for blue lighting instead of green. these can be had in either mono or colour screens. the best bet is to bypass the icc entirely, as a colour 6 stack job will run you approx $700, and is not mp3 compatible, but a decent aftermarket mp3 deck and speaker upgrades can be had for around that price. as for fragility, ive heard its more a case of the type of screen being why you cant tip it on its side? something to do with it affecting the display properties? i could be wrong on this as its only what ive heard around the place.....

This might be the wrong thread to bump back up to the top, but I'm thinking about getting this done to my BF MkII XR6 - it came with the standard ICC and I'd like to upgrade it to the Premium without the dual zone, to give the int. a little bit of a facelift.

I know that the actual CD player is still punching out the same power as the standard system, but there are AMP's that I can run behind the scenes that will create a respectable level of sound. I want to keep the int. standard looking, however sounding decidedly more than that.

I've been told that the Premium ICC needs to be re-programed into the BCM and can be done by Ford service for around $110. :?:

I can't say I know or have heard anything about the ICC being as fragile as many of you are saying, but I would think that it couldn't be that 'touchy' as it's in a moving vehicle. i.e if the issue is floating componants in the machanics of the thing, what damage would a rather large pot hole do? Or some creative driving around a corner, surely that would cause a well documented problem as well?

The only thing that I'd want and wouldn't mind spending a little money on is an ICC with an AUX connector so I can connect my iDevice to listen to my music, as the CD player is from the 1980's and doesn't know what an .mp3 is!

I'm flying in the night here with no lights guys, so your comments and opinions are requested! :D
