Has anyone had trouble fitting a starter motor to a 250 crossflow in a TE cortina with the latest pacemaker extractors. The standard starter motor is to long and hits end on extracors. I have a lucas starter motor which is 1" shorter than Bosch and it fits fine. Unfortunately this starter is dead and auto electrician said not worth fixing. He sold me a brand new Bosch mini starter but that wont fit because the solenoid sits at about 9 Oclock and hits right on side of trans tunnel. Any ideas would good .

Have you tried one from a BA/BF? or an FG Falcon ? they are short ones and may be what you are looking for?

is it the solenoid that is no good on your old one ? if so remove it from starter give it a good clean polish the core piston with autosol or similar apply a small amount of grease and refit this almost always fixes them unless the motor is stuffed or try an EL falcon one
