Hi. My father-inlaw and I are having trouble starting his ford. It cranks but wont kick over.
We have tryed checking fuses, sparkplugs, fuel pump and everything is fine. We have been told that it could be the smartlock system, and have read lots of things on the internet related to this matter and tryed lots of different options including, Replacing the transmission control system, EBM(or ECU not quite sure what the blue box under the drivers left knee panel is)and the ignition barrel switch and key. We went to the local wreckers and got those part all off the same model car and was told the parts, after being installed, had to be reprogrammed or something??? Not quite sure. We can hear the fuel priming but i think the computer has shut down the spark. Please help. |

try leave the key in the ON position for 45 mins then see if it will start.
the smartlock system could be the cause of it not starting and waiting the 45 min should allow it to start. otherwise the other cause could be the crank angle sensor . if it is smartlock, there are bypass modules available www.shiftkits.com.au |

Numerous possibilities -crank angle sensor efi relay (brown relay under coolant bottle ) -does smartlock light go out with ignition on - have you checked for spark does interior light work scan for codes - spray with areo start or similar
