Hi,
apologies if this has been posted before - AU Fairmont wagon V8. Love the drivability of this V8 ! Anyway, I need to change my plugs and am having difficulty with access, particularly on the 5,6,7,8 cylinder bank. I have tried several plug spanners, no good. I have an Ellery Service Manual, and it gives no info at all. Do I need to remove the exhaust manifold to gain access to the plugs? If not, how do I get to them?? Thanks for your help. |

From memory you can get them with a 3/8 drive socket. Of maybe use a plug socket with a hew on the top, and then use a ring spanner - or another socket, etc, to get them.
Best of luck.

plugs are too long for a socket, unfortunately.

Try one of these. I use them for the plugs on my Windsor that are hard to access. I also use a 3/8" drive spark plug socket and ratchet. The trick is that the square fitting on the ratchet, or T bar, doesn't click onto the socket.

I got an old socket, not a spark plug socket just a normal crappy old socket, ground 2 flats on the top so I can get an open ended spanner on it to get to plugs 5 and 6,7 and 8 can be had with a 3/8 spark plug socket.
