Hey guys
Just wondering if anyone knew how much a rebuild would cost on my 97 xh ute? Im in vic if location matters. And what are the options to chose from and so on so on. But mainly if i should get the original motor rebuilt and if its worth it.
Cheers. :D

This is another 'how long is a piece of string' question :D

A complete rebuild can be anywhere from $1500 - $4000 depending on what needs replacing and who's assembling it. I paid about $800 for an ACL bearing and full gasket kit a few years ago. A reco head will cost about $500-800. Reboring, new pistons, rings, crankshaft grinding, balancing, etc all add to the cost. If you're not planning to keep the car for long or not interested in modding the engine, then a low km engine from the wreckers is a good option.

if ya not worried about having the original engine .... just go with a low k's engine, plenty around & they go for no more than $500 [or there abouts].
