Hello Everyone,

I have a BA XR8, and hopefully soon, I will be updating to a FG XR8. What I propose to do is upgrade the motor to 315 status by sourcing a pair of 315 heads and cams and fitting these to a Boss 290. the Question I have for anyone in the know is, is this possible? and if I need any extra bits and pieces to make it happen, could someone please give me some advice, as I plan to build a sleeper.

I will be back online soon with an update on my progress shortly.

Kind Regards,

Tez.

Hail the Boss 8-) 8-) 8-)

an fg xr8 is not a sleeper!

a sleeper is a tyoe if car that is not expected to go fast! something like a sigma wagon, or a ba wagon
or a really bunky looking base model falcon, all of these would have a hi powered engine in there

but for the time, effort and $$ yu might be better off just throwing a supercharger on your xr8
you will also get more power!

why dont you just stroke it to a 347 in an get all the bits you need coz you will have to upgrade Injectors an get the ecu reflashed ,not much value in paying 2000 an only going up 20-25 kw..im installing a NOS kit instead of doing that, much better bang for my buck for my 5 litre

Dont worry about making it a 315. Compression is different also. If you want power save money for boost. If you want NA. Save more money and go fully built engine. . There is also stroker kits available to make it 5.7L but requires the factory crank to have a grind. The guy Phil is a top bloke and has alot of info regarding the boss engine...His products are on ebay.

But definitely make sure what direction you want to go in.

Ive gone all bolt ons and herrod cams. Sounds good, goes well, better on fuel than the preformance cams. But still lacks a lot of power and torque i reckon. Im saving for built engine and forced induction now.
