im in the middle of fiting a 5.0l in a r33 ive got motor and trans bolted in with a carby manifold and hei ignition im working on a exaust idea and was going to fit a c4 but due to finances am stuck with btr its from a ef/el fairmont what will it do if i dont use a cpu will i get gears at all only need 1st and 2nd and please dont tell me its a waist of a windsor i just want to put one up the ricer and ls clowns

I'm not 100% sure it will work, but a Transmission Control Module from an EA Series 2 or EB Series 1 might be what you're after. Too bad you aren't using a C4 which has more options for mods and has a better first gear ratio.

id fit a c4 in a heart beat if i had one the r33 is just for the track i have 4 fords for the road im rebuilding or reparing i got a xe 351 auxr6 xh xr6 and xgxr6

The short answer is Yes it can be done.
The Long answer, is you will need a factory ea or eb 4spd trans controller, wiring, the speed sender for the gearbox, a TPS switch (early car's ran two tps, one for the engine and one for the auto controller) fit to your throttle shaft on the carby, and possibly a coolant temp sender too. Maybe another sensor or two that I can't think of right now. Best way to work out exactly what sensors you will need, will be to have a look at a EA or EB series 1 4speed auto car's wiring diagrams. Trace out just the stuff that goes back to the trans control unit, that will give you some ideas. I've been toying with the idea of a borg warner 4spd behind a dodge 318 in my old truck, and maybe even one behind a clevo in a old ute for my mum. I know I've seen one behind a clevo in a xe a few years ago, so it can be done. Cheers ToranaGuy

what will it do without all that will it get any gears at all

yes it can be run standalone and full manual with a controller from www.shiftkits.com.au
also can use a programmable auto controller if you mount a TPS to the carb, and also have RPM and VSS signals available |
