How many KW's can a standard ED block handle before some is required to be done to it? eg rods and pistons etc.

mine is pushing 200 rwkw, which works out to be aproxx 270 kw at the engine..

I run 270 rwkw [360 h.p] for 5 years..
500 fwhp is about the limit.. RPM kills as much as anything.. Ford says 450 continuous h.p.. You'll find this interesting.. http://www.theturboforums.com/stockblock.php

First one mast ask weather you have a 6 cylinder or V8 as the two can handle varying amounts of power.

The 6 block is pretty much bullet proof up to 400 rwkw.. Then better mains girdle and maybe 40mm or so up the bore with grout filler to help support cylinder bore and block strength...
With ARP bolts all through engine.. Drilling and tapping head bolts threads to accept larger stronger studs helps with head lift ... The twin cam engines suffer around front cylinder at high boost / power levels.. Some grout fill helps in this area also.. Oil pump issues is an easy fix... BTW the ARP bolt kit works on SOHC engines also... With slight mod to mains bolt under oil pump[too long]...

its because there is such a large number of boosted cars on the site mate lol
you really only need to read through the build threads to get an idea. the average power level is 200-220rwkw on 7psi theres a few pushing more than that on standard bottom ends. from what i've read 300rwkw should be fine with a good tune. seems to only need 15-17psi for 300rwkw as said above, the rods will let go from too many revs before a piston cracks from too much power. but of course a bad tune will kill any engine at any power level
