Hey all,
Just wondering what everyone is using as far as Head Gaskets go for Alloy head 250 crossflows these days. Is there a prefered brand amongst what options are left. Cometic are simply to expensive but the alternatives I have seen so far look like cheap crap to me. Engine I need one for is quite modified with 10.5:1 comp ratio and driven hard. There are a few old stock gaskets about for iron head what does anyone think about making one of those fit. is it as easy as just enlarging the two holes for the dowels on alloy head block to fit through or is there other differences as well.

With ACL Gasket done and dusted, you are really only going to get Permaseal-type stuff, just like the OEM junk, or suck it up and put a Cometic MLS gasket on it. If you want to run higher than stock compression, and flog its guts out, then $300-odd for a decent head gasket is probably what you will need to spend anyway. They work well in the modified / production speedway cars, on methanol with higher compression, etc.

EDIT: Just realised you are talking about crossflow heads, rather than E-series heads
