Hi,

I've managed to disassemble the front calipers from a wrecked Ford AUII. How does one get the pistons (twin) to pop out?

I've tried using a skinny airgun, it works ok to remove rear brake single pistons but don't seem to work on the front calipers.

I tried to block off the brake fluid inlet entry, did not work as I was using same bolt (with hole) that held brake hose. Then I tried using brake nipple to close it, but that failed due to not enough reach.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

Does anyone know how it's done.
Thanks

The butcher way is to see if you can get the piston protruding a little and then put a pair of multi grips on the top of the piston and wiggle it out? or, get something inside the Piston so you can turn it a little from side to side, all you will do it ruin the piston seal, which you really DO need to replace.
Really, you should be able to get them to move using the air method but, I have had them jam up before. It may have been sitting for a while? Try using the bleeder valve to block off one port and put a cloth around the air nozzle when you put it in the other port. I hope that makes sense?

hook it back up to the car and use the brake pedal to pump it out. do one at a time. worked for me.

Hi shaddoweaver,

I guess I could do that but will have to get a lot more brake fluid. Hopefully use the air gun again and see if I can get the mongrel out.

Papa Smurf,

I could try that method again, I might need a better air nozzle to use. The one I have is narrow and goes straight inside the brake fluid entry, same for the bleed valve side too. Too much air escaping, I tried jamming the other vent with cloth, still passing air, might try different cloth, worse case scenario may end up doing what shaddoweaver suggested.
