the car stalls quite randomly while driving and not to often, happening about once a fortnight or so despite being driven daily. at first i thought it was spark related so ive replaced the coil, dizzy, tdi module but the stalling continues. when it stalls itll take about five minutes before it winds over.

any help/advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Been having similar issues with my EL as well. Happens every now and then and also replaced all the ignition side of things.

When you say it takes about 5 minutes before it winds over, do you mean the car doesn't crank at all before the 5 mins or does it crank but just doesn't run? If it's the latter, have you checked the fuel system? First check the fuel filter to see if it's blocked, if it hasn't been replaced for a while, I'd suggest replacing it anyway. If this does not solve you're issue, you will need to check the fuel pump/fuel rail/fuel pressure regulator/injectors to see if they are clean and functioning.

I am having similar issues and will be looking at the fuel system when I get the chance.
