now i dunno if this is an interior problem or not.. but ill pot is here anyway
today i jumped in my car to go up the road for lunch as normal, start the car, wipers and washers come on.. (asif i pulled back on the left stick) thought ok, left it go for a little bit, kept going.. wiggled the wiper stick around in all its positions.. no improvment.. it happens as soon as i get into the ignition position. i pulled the wiper fuse which cut my power windows (is this right???) and went and had lunch.. im currently at work so i cant work on the car, but any i deas where to start? do i win the obscure problem of the week award? cheers mitch

i would say yor switch has a sort in it .get it replaced before it starts smoking and do more damage to your wiring

unplug the conbination switch at the connecter on the underside of the steering column.. follow the wiring from the combination switch and unplug it, then if u turn on the ignition and it still does it, you have ruled out the switch and need to look at wiring or possible BEM module...

i had that problem with the EF GLi.
Its the BEM. If you replace the BEM it should work fine. I got one for mine, cost me nothing but where i got it from usually sell it for $30. From ford your looking at $330. LOL So yeah its the BEM and thats all.

I had the same problem it wasnt the BEM, wasnt the return on the wiper motor, wasnt the stork and only blew fuses if the stork was in the off position. The fault was in a pinched wiring loom going down through the drivers side kick panel. The pinch was from the door slider/stop thing. took a while to find it as it was intermittent. But seeing your has the washers on at the same time i would go for the BEM first as its the easiest to change, if it is the BEM you will have to wait 30min with the key in to reprogramme the smart lock. But its more likely to be the stork.

if the loom which runs to the stalk is unplugged and it stops would that not rule out the BEM?

yes it would, its not the BEM.
It sounds like the STALK. I would pull it out have a look at the contacts...you may not need to buy a replacement. |

Having this problem now also, found the issue?
I'll be looking at possible pinched wires and disconnecting the switch to see what happens tomorrow.... |
